sapulpa!

I've become a little more clear-headed since my last post. I know that if I had gone ahead and taken the semester off, I'd be regretting it now. I really don't want to fall behind, especially if I want to go to law school eventually. Not only did I register for classes, I signed up for fifteen hours this semester. Last semester I only took twelve hours and I spread them out over five days a week. This semester I'm doing Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes which leaves time open for me to try and get a better job so I can make my car payment and still have money left over for compulsive spending. School starts Wednesday.

Yesterday was Megan's twenty-first birthday. I drove to Sapulpa, Oklahoma to see her. It's a small town outside of Tulsa. My brother was born there and we used to live in a suburb called Owasso. Megan is a good friend of mine that is from Oklahoma but lived here in Texas about five minutes from me until very recently. She moved to Sapulpa to be with her boyfriend. I'm so optimistic for her and her situation because she seems very happy where she is... and I think that her boyfriend might propose to her. I wouldn't get to see her as often as we're used to because it's a four-hour drive, but if she can be happier than she would be here... well, she's my friend and I would be be supportive and happy for her.

I drove up to Oklahoma after work. It was a long drive... I had to go through a lot of little towns and a lot of wide open spaces. It's kind of a good feeling when you get to the Indian Nation Turnpike, pay $1.75, and then just zip down the road at 80-90 mph. There were quite a few spots where the glass was completely blackened, a sign of all of the recent wildfires. There were a lot of trees and big hills... much more than the usual flatness that is Texas. It took me forever... and I had never made the drive (except as a passenger about ten years ago) so I didn't know what to expect. As I got closer to Sapulpa, I gave Megan a call and got really excited when I realized that my exhausting drive was coming to an end.

When I got there, the three of us (Megan, Mike, and I) went to a casino on an Indian reservation. Megan and I got bored quickly so we left and went to Waffle House. While we were eating our waffles and hashbrowns, we saw probably eight Tulsa police cars and a couple of ambulances go zooming by... apparently they were rushing to the scene of a bar shooting in which five or six people were injured. I'm glad we decided against bar-hopping. After our late dinner, we went back to Mike's house in Sapulpa and drank champagne, ate red velvet cake, and watched The Best of Will Ferrell.

We woke up late and Megan and I went back to Tulsa and at at Zio's on 71st and Mingo. It's one of my favorite restaurants. It's very classy but not so upscale that there's a dress code or anything. I always say that a restaurant expects only perfection when the waiters wear white. I had the eggplant diavola and it was absolutely scrumptious. It's unfortunate that the nearest location to me back home is all the way in Fort Worth. We made a trip to Starbucks after that and I tried the new Cinnamon Dolce Latte. It was pretty good. After that, I pretty much decided it was time to head home. Megan had to be at work soon and I wanted to be home before dinner. Megan reminded me once more of the route home and I hit the road. It was kind of sad... I miss her a lot.

The drive back seemed quicker. I stopped in Okmulgee to get a car charger for my brother's iPod Nano. A continuous stream of music kept me occupied all the way back the way I came. I noticed a tragic little town in a small valley... the houses were small and dirty and sad. On the other side, I saw a road sign that said Reba McEntire Road. I realized that I was passing through Chockie, which was kind of a cool experience. I also passed through Henryetta, the Oklahoma town where former Dallas Cowboy Troy Aikman was born and raised. Anyway, I made it home safe and sound and tired. If you really read all of this, I'm sorry for boring you to death.

Grey's Anatomy tonight was fantastic! I'm so addicted to this show... it's not even funny. It's possible that I may start doing commentaries like I used to do frequently with The OC. It's just so... good.

I don't know if I like it. Just something about the colors. Perhaps they're too cheerful. Should I keep it? It's sort of growing on me, but I still don't know. I really only made it because I adore the header.
