Sorry I've been out of pocket for the last week or two. I was busy with the paper, and now I am studying frantically for finals and hoping that I'll be lucky enough to scrape a pass in biology. School's over next week, and then I can breathe a sigh of relief and relax.
And as far as American Idol... in case anyone hasn't seen tonight's episode and they are wanting to watch it, my AI discussion is under the cut.
You know what? I dismissed Phil Stacey towards the beginning and then he really came back with a vengeance, didn't he? He caught my attention when he sang "I'll Be Watching You" and he really proved himself during country week and when he sang "The Dance" during Idol Gives Back. I thought his performance of "Blaze of Glory" was inspired, but you know... he's not the American Idol. As good as I think he is (though he can be tinny at times), he's just not the American Idol. He doesn't have the best voice, not to mention he doesn't really have the look or the style.
Chris... well that was expected. I expected him to go last week, but they didn't let anyone go because of the charity thing. But yeah, Chris was just getting more and more out of his league as each week passed. He's an all right singer, but he doesn't bring anything different to the table. And no, Chris, "nasally" is not a style of singing. At least not a good one. I know you think you're the next Justin, but Justin has a talented falsetto while you sing out of your nose. I liked his performance, though... I thought he had a great exit performance. He's just not the next American Idol.
So the Top 4 are: Melinda Doolittle, Jordin Sparks, LaKisha Jones and Blake Lewis.
I think this was an expected result. It'll be interesting to see where things go from here. Blake has quite a following and he really made a comeback this week, as did LaKisha. Jordin and Melinda were getting comfortable with always being in the lead (which doesn't mean they aren't awesome - they still are), but now they are going to face some real competition.
LaKisha had my favorite performance on Bon Jovi night. She performed "This Ain't A Love Song."

I'll miss the Top 6! Here is my favorite performance with the group - "An American Prayer" from Idol Gives Back, featuring: Phil Stacey, LaKisha Jones, Chris Richardson, Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle and Jordin Sparks.
