Welcome to your new Job! Hope you have a wonderful first day!
It turns out by assistant lifeguard, they mean full time all day by the pool life guard. I need some of that Surf suntan lotion Drew keeps around...Headhunter's I think. Little kids are very fun to be around. I have a handicapped girl and we lower her into the pool using a special crane and she is just about the coolest girl I've ever met. She plays the copy cat game with me and matched me in a game of wits all the while keeping a huge smile despite the fact she is so different from everyone else and it's painfully obvious. Maybe that's not a huge deal; maybe it's a "no duh" thing, but it's really resonating with me. I've realized I've been to close-minded to a lot of things and I don't feel good about it, but the good thing is I'm young and their is always time to change.
The first day was pretty great except for two things: the weather: the wind was blowing which makes for a freezing pool. And secondly I was surprised to find that swim lessons are part of my weekly responsibilities. I barely know how to swim myself and now I have to teach this 6 year old, Andrew how to swim. The dude is slightly afraid of water and I'm pretty sure has A.D.D., but who doesn't? The point is, They can depend on me to jumpinto the pool and save a kid's life, however, teaching tehm how to tread the water and stroke is just something beyond my knowledge. I pretty much have to wing it. There's no other solution. I better be making above minimum wage. That shit's too stressful for 6.75. I'm exhausted just thinking about doing it again tomorrow...
Got a free CD rack and like 20 CD's from Howell including some Beta Band, Radiohead, Simon and Garfunkel, and just a whole bunch of shit really. He said it was gonna take me four years to get through. That sounded strangely like a challenge, but then I thought, "he's probably right..." I am really behind on my records, meaning I own more than I have actually goteren around to listening to. Just another goal in summer.
I'm tired, a night of rest is indeed needed. Stand up and stretch, look around this mess
