On Anybody's Block is Where I'm Going to Be Rocking, G.

I can remember the exact moment when I first heard of the New Kids on the Block. I was 13 years old and it was midsummer and Please Don't Go Girl was on MTV, back when they actually played videos. Oh! I can't thank you enough for this entry! It brought back so many wonderful memories and feelings.

Just two days ago at work, a group of us eating lunch together were discussing our first concerts and how execited we were, etc. Not a huge shock to you, I'm sure, to hear that my first concert was NKOTB (the Hangin' Tough tour).

And as someone who grew up listening to her mother's oldies, I think it's only natural to "rediscover" old favorites, or just pull them out for nostalgia's sake. Everyone does it. The only difference is, I don't think my mother's peers would heckle her for being a fan of Elvis or the Beatles. Admitting to be a current or former NKOTB fan can still get you strange looks or elicit sneers from your peers. But it doesn't seem to be as bad as it used to be. (From my experience anyway.)

By the way, I was a Jordon girl. I spotted the talent in him right away. :-) It's really a shame we're not seeing more of him. I know he did an album and recorded one song on it with Deborah Gibson. I saw them perform it on GMA. But that was the last I heard. Sad. :-( Although, I do have "Give It to You" on and CD mix I made a few summers ago. heehee!
