On Anybody's Block is Where I'm Going to Be Rocking, G.

I can remember the exact moment when I first heard of the New Kids on the Block. I was 13 years old and it was midsummer and Please Don't Go Girl was on MTV, back when they actually played videos. I was on the phone with my mother, but I hung up without one word of warning just before the second verse. I knew, immediately, that divided attention ( Read more... )

Aww, don't knock "Popsicle." It never fails to make me smile.

I recently went on a NKOTB hunt too... last year I got their first cd on eBay. :)

And... I agree with your entire post. :)

On a side-note, I had the pleasure of meeting Joe (my favorite) in 1998 or 1999, whenever he was promoting his first solo album. It was at a Super Walmart in Kissimmee, right next door to Orlando. Once I got there I decided that the line was too long for me to wait on so I went inside to see if I could see him before they let the auto people in. He was sitting at a table in the middle of the Florida novelties section, so I went over near him and acted like I was shopping. He said hi and started asking me about the weather and if it was always this crazy... It was summer so it was storm season.

For the whole minute or so I talked to him I kept thinking how unexciting it was to be in his presence. As I walked away I cursed the fact that it wasn't 1989 or 1990 anymore, when I could have enjoyed him. Sad. :( I hope I don't feel the same way about Hanson in the future. (Probably won't since I've met them so many times while they've still been important to me.)

Jordan tidbit... I learned via the local news that the day Lou Perlman's downtown compound was raided a few weeks ago, or a month ago, whenever it was, Jordan Knight just *happened* to be in the studio there recording. Had I known, I would have been waiting patiently by the door to have my "Hangin' Tough" cd signed.
