(Meme stolen from God knows how many people as I haven't finished reading my friendslist, but definitely
cervrok, for starters.)
Although I've never been particularly crazy about my name, I've always loved my birthday. October 11 is the perfect day to be born, as far as I'm concerned: it's Columbus day (or it was, in Vermont in 1976); it's just when fall is prettiest in New England; and it was always something to look forward to when a long, torturous year of school was starting.
As it turns out, these reasons were just the beginning.
The Rules:
1. Type in your birthday (minus the year) in the search bar at Wikipedia.org
2. List three interesting facts, two births, and one death that happened on your birthday.
Events
1582 - Due to the implementation of the Gregorian calendar, this day does not exist in this year in Italy, Poland, Portugal and Spain. [My birthday is newer than yours!]
1910 - Ex-president Theodore Roosevelt goes on his first airplane ride, in St Louis, with Arch Hoxsey as his pilot. Roosevelt almost falls out of the airplane while waving to the crowd below and Hoxsey pulls him back. This however made Roosevelt the first U.S. president to fly in an airplane.
1975 - Saturday Night Live debuts with George Carlin as the guest host.
Births
1884 - Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States (d. 1962)
1949 - Daryl Hall, American musician [Makes passionate love to Daryl Hall, circa 1982.]
Deaths
1303 - Pope Boniface VIII
