She held the letters from her love to her breast. He had been sending them from prison for nearly a year now and she was still surprised that they were allowing him to send them.
Each one was dear and precious to her, they held his love for her and his promises that they would one day together again. She glanced down to the parchments in her hands, the words on them has been read so many times that she knew them by heart and could simple close her eyes to see them before her. Which is what she was doing right then, her eyes close as she reread the newest one, the one about them running away together as soon as he was out of prison and living in the forest where no one would ever find them.

The sound of the door pulled her from the letters, she quickly threw them in the small wooden box that she kept them in and turned to find a man standing by her door.

“Are you ready my dear?” he asked giving her an smile. “We should hurry to the castle or we'll be late the king starting the winter ball.”

She glanced at herself in her mirror one last time and nodded to him, “Yes, I'm ready.” She moved to his side.

With one last glanced to the box of letters she took her husband's arm and together they headed out to the king's winter ball.
