Dream of Californication

Jun 15, 2007 18:15

Kacie had left at like 2 that afternoon with her doctor-boyfriend who was takin' her to Las Vegas for the weekend, leavin' her Santa Monica beach house all to me. She tried real heard to pretend like she was givin' me the speech, the one about not having any parties while she was gone, no drinking, and definitely no boys. But I could tell, Kacie ( Read more... )

First, I heard about the party through my sister. I told Jude and a couple other friends from school and I knew some of the girls from Mom's school were being invited. Then I heard about the party from a whole group of people who I had no clue even knew about the party in the first place. What started as a semi-small type of thing sure grew fast as hell.

Jude and I were meeting up before heading over to the house where the party was supposed to take place and I was taking Lily with me. It had been a while since we really went to any kind of party and probably the last time we really did anything like this was while we were in Spain.

Getting out of my car, I raised a brow when I already realized that this was even bigger than what I thought it would be and that had Lexi written all over it. Hopefully I wouldn't be having to babysit my sister all night long. I was hoping for a longer break than this. Though, hey. At least the evil vampire who fucked up my family and seduced my sister wouldn't be here. This night was looking ( ... )

Tyler invited me to this party, said it was a friend of his sisters. Supposed to be some quiet event. Then as the week went on, I started hearing about it everywhere I turned. So much for quiet. But, it really did come at a pretty good time. Parents out of the country, birthday was a few days ago. Nothing like a huge party to ring in turning 17 right? Have a little fun, get totally smashed, check out some girls.

The plan was to meet up with Tyler and his girlfriend and head over to this girl's house, Lacey I think it was. The one who told me she was gonna get me cupcakes for my birthday. Lexi's friend. We headed on over and when we pulled in, I looked over at Tyler wtih a grin, shaking my head before we headed towards the door. Stopping, I looked back. I couldn't shake this weird feeling I'd had the last few days that someone was following me. Talk about being paranoid.

Tyler teased Lexi and I laughed. "I didn't see any flyers, so that has to be a plus right?" I smiled over at the blonde beside Lexi.

"Uh!" I exclaimed, giving Tyler my most innocent look. "I don't know what you're talking about, I just invited...a few close friends." I could feel Lacey glaring at me so I just turned and gave her a look. "What? I can't help it that I'm popular." I shook my head and turned my grin back to my brother and his friend Jude along with Lily. Jude was okay I guess, it was good for Tyler to have a guy friend. I think.

"Don't be a buzzkill tonight, Brother. We're gonna have a blast." I grinned at him as the four of us walked back towards the kitchen. Opening the fridge I gave Tyler a look and tossed him, Lily and his friend Jude a beer each. "It's time to loosen up, and have a good time."

Still giving the four of them an innocent look I leaned up against the wall as someone yelled hi to me. A smile lit up my face as I waved at them before turning back to Lacey, Jude, Lily and Tyler.

"We can go out to the beach later if we want." I said giving Tyler a devilish look. I knew that he loved the beach just as much as I did.

I smiled brightly at Jude, blushing just a little. "I'm sure if there had been, you'd 've taken them down." I said, giving him a small wink. I'm sure there probably were flyers somewhere, knowing Lexi. Just none where he could find them.

Following Lexi and the other three into the kitchen where she started handing out beers. Personally, I thought better of the whole thing since beer was so gross and let them have 'em while I whipped out the blender and started tossin' in some ice and other ingredients for some watermelon margaritas.

Secretly, I checked out the hottie Tyler brought with him. The one the cupcakes were for. Money well spent, that was for sure.

"So," I said, pressing the 'stop' button and shakin' the pitcher to swirl what was on the sides as I licked a little that got caught on my thumb.

"Who wants somethin' a little sweeter?"

That question was mostly in Jude's direction. But open to all, nonetheless.

We went into the kitchen and I gave my sister a look when she said we could go over to the beach. Yeah, that would be my sister trying to get me to loosen up by going to the one place we both always wanted to go ( ... )

I opened the beer that Lexi tossed me and took a drink, laughing as Tyler gave his sister a hard time. Sometimes I wished I had a brother or sister around. Might be cool. Well, maybe not. I take it back.

Don't think I missed the blonde checking me out. She was definitely hot, that's for sure. This whole party idea was getting better by the minute. She started mixing up some kind of margarita and I finished my beer just as she offered a round of them

Of course Tyler spoke up before anyone else could. "Hey, those are my cupcakes!" I spoke up. "You know, for my birthday that the parents of the year went and forgot?" I grinned. "So, I get the first one. Lacey next, then, because I'm such a nice guy, all the ladies get one. Oh, wait, if we're letting ladies go first? That means you'd get the first one Tyler." I shot him a smart ass look and started laughing.

"And I'll take one of those margaritas." I grinned over at Lacey.

His parents forgot his birthday? Oh my God, LAME! Not everybody was as lucky to have a dad like mine, which was sad for the rest of the world but good for me. "You're funny," I said sarcastically to Jude. "Really." So wasn't this predictable? Tyler's best buddy was making eyes at my best friend.

Hmmm. I pressed my lips together as I watched Jude shoot Lacey another look. I think I could see that working out. I exchanged a glance with Tyler to see if he could see it too but he obviously could. He noticed everything which made it REALLY hard to hide things from him. But he has dreams or whatever, and I say that's cheating. At least I can still kick his ass.

"Move it." I said to Jude as I pushed him lightly out of the way and grabbed two cupcakes. Walking over to Lacey I handed her one with a smile, and the look in her eyes kind of made me giggle a little bit. If my brother weren't here, I'd offer her another body shot.

I left Sarah and hoped that she would stay out of trouble. I'm not sure why I felt so protective of her, but I guess it was because she was still kind of naive. Too trusting too, but I guess you could afford to be that way if you weren't a slayer ( ... )

"There's enough cupcakes to go around." I pointed out, with smiles all around, especially to Lexi who looked particularly appalled. Though it took everything I had to hold back the laughter at Jude's comments. Boys will be boys, I guess. Tyler's so sweet, so polite it seems. Lexi's like the hurricane, and he's the calm in it ( ... )

"Look who's the funny guy tonight," I rolled my eyes at Jude and gave him a look before taking the cupcake offered and licked up the icing. Had to get to the good stuff before eating the actual cake. "Hey, don't mess with the cupcakes and beer," I said with a feigned offended look in Lily's direction. "Cupcakes go with anything."

Lily mentioned the bonfire outside at the beach and I loved the idea already. She always knew the beach helped me ease up no matter where I was. Finishing off the beer, I sat the bottle on the counter behind me and started on the mixed drink Lacey had made. She was sure the nice hostess.

"You wanna head out there now or stay around here and hang out for a little bit," I asked Lily. The music was blaring and I kind of felt like dancing a little once people got settled and actually started dancing. Though once I drank the rest of this margarita I'd probably feel like doing it anyway.

Slayers and their stupid stamina. That just wasn't fair. Well. Most of the time.

I shot Lexi a look when she told me I was funny. What? It was funny. At least I thought so. Then she started handing out my cupcakes. Well just to her and Lacey, which was okay, cause they were girls. And they were both hot. What can I say, I have my priorities. I’m a teenage guy, what else is new?

Tyler’s girlfriend Lily suggested a bonfire. That might actually be kind of cool. Me and Lacey, Ty and Lily, Lexi and…dude, we seriously needed to find somebody for Lexi to chill with or she was gonna be a total buzzkill. And yes, I said me and Lacey. I was interested, I’m not gonna lie. She was hot. Plus, she got me cupcakes. That everyone was eating! I leaned over and grabbed one too.

“I’m cool with whatever.” I shrugged. “I could go for some more drink though.” I held up my empty glass, which Lacey promptly refilled. “Thanks.” I said, smiling at her. “No offense?” I said. “But where’s the strong stuff? I vote we take that outside and make a bonfire.”

I was seriously starting to feel like the fifth wheel here between Lacey and Jude and Tyler and Lily. This sucks. Not that I didn't have plenty of company whenever I wanted it but it sucked being the odd woman out. Oh well, I'd find someone to go home with tonight. It was guaranteed.

Getting up on the counter on my knees I opened one of the cabinets and grabbed a bottle of Jim Beane and a bottle of Vodka before handing them both to Tyler so I could jump down from the counter.

"Okay. Let's go people. I'm not getting any younger." I said to the four of them as we began heading through the kitchen and to the sliding glass doors that lead to the beach outside. I hope they knew how to build a fire because that wasn't exactly my specialty. I already did my part by inviting so many people.
