Provisionary burdens taken care of, Tenten smoothed out the wrinkles in her shirt and took a moment to glance down at little Itoshii, still sticking close to the shadows of her feet, but very much preoccupied elsewhere. It was a good thing though, the young woman noted as the little kitten seemed especially interested in pawing at the plastic tip of Gai's shoelace. Cats were known to be proud and independent creatures for the most part. But being trapped in the storm where she had been found had its lingering effects on Itoshii, although not notably so, as was made apparent in the way the small creature would still make a point to remain near Tenten's feel despite poking about the yard in front of the dojo. It was not much, but at least it was a start. And Tenten could not ask for more than that.
In a moment of fondness, she knelt down to gently scratch the area in between the kitten's folded ears, to which Itoshii could only begin to purr in contentment. She was in the midst of inquiring about when the others would be coming when Gaara's voice chimed in, drawing Tenten's attention up from the ball of fluff and fur. Where did he come from? "Does she?" At his comment though, she could only let her gaze drop back down at Itoshii, wondering if what Gaara had said was right. It had been a few hour since breakfast, and Itoshii was still a growing kitten...
It was a good thing Tenten had thought to bring a package of kitty treats, shuffling around in the pocket of her black capris to pull out a plastic bag filled with kitty snacks. And sure enough, when she held out the cookie-like treat, Itoshii had accepted it gratefully.
"Huh, I guess she was..." the cafe waitress mumbled softly, mostly to herself. And then a second later, Tenten turned towards the red-head as an idea popped into her mind, "Hey Gaara...? Do you wanna help feed her?"
Maybe it would be a pointless endeavor. Maybe not. But Gaara did not seem too opposed to being near the kitten, and had showed a level of actual concern for her. And if it could help to make him more comfortable with the situation, all the better. It's was worth a try.
