This is what it comes to, then.

Three humans, a Unicorn, one Dwarf, and a handful of Talking Beasts, gravely outnumbered by their enemies.

This is all Narnia has left to fight for her.

But fight they do. They can't win. Tirian is beyond caring. He will sell his life and the lives of his companions as dearly as he may, and hope--for he finds, amazingly, that he still has room for some hope--that he has done the best he could.

And as he fights on, he realizes two things. The first is that he's alone. Eustace is gone, and the last time he saw Jill, she was likely being dragged towards the stable as well. He doesn't know where Jewel is anymore.

And he's let himself be maneuvered between Rishda Tarkaan and the stable, and the Calormene is pressing forward, trying to force him through the door.

Well.

Nothing to lose, anymore.

For the first time since he was old enough to carry anything more than a wooden toy, Tirian, son of Erlian lets his sword drop from his hand. It can't do him any more good, and he wants both hands for this.

He ducks and lunges forward, and grabs hold of the Tarkaan's belt.

"Come in and meet Tash yourself!"

And with that, the last king of Narnia hurls both himself and his enemy backwards, through the open door.
