So the woman from Deloitte called me this morning and admitted that they screwed up and that I won't have to pay those taxes myself.
Turns out that despite Deloitte international coordinating my relocation (even down to organising removal people) they didn't inform the dutch office, who therefore didn't know to give me a tax briefing last year, apply for the 30% ruling and include me on their automated tax filing system.
Despite my overwhelming relief, I can't help being yet again amazed at the level of incompetance within that company.
