Delicious fabric!

Finally a post with pictures! Just to keep you all interested :P

First up: New fabric finds!!

Last Saturday I spent the day out with my Tafe friend, and we managed to visit a couple of fabric stores during our travels.

First up was Spotlight, which yielded a possible Regency fabric

Firstly is the gorgeous yellow stripe/blue floral cotton, which I scored for $2pm!! I couldn't believe it when the lady told me at the register, as I had been expecting at least $4! So of course I had to have all 4m! Bargain! So to the Regency experts on my F-List, do you think this would be appropriate for a Regency day dress? If not, I can definitely see it as a gorgeous 50's dress, or possibly a lolita dress! The unicorn print I just had to have, but I was restrained and only bought 1m, since I couldn't think exactly what I wanted to make from it. The blue floral is a remnant of brushed flannel which was too pretty and soft to leave behind; and the blue fabric is a couple of voile remnants (about 4m I think in total!) which will either be a shirt or possibly a dress (if there's enough). All of that for $20!! Bargain I think!

Next up, we walked over to Tricia's Discount Fabrics, which is currently having a 'Buy 2, get 1 free' moving sale on everything in the store! I'd heard of Tricia's from a few sources (mandymaria and TAFE), so I was keen to check it out. The fabric were so beautiful, though definitely more expensive than I was used to. However, the quality is fantastic, so the price is understandable! My main goal with the fabric hunting had been to find some nice cotton prints for use in my Christmas gift project, and I walked away with almost all the prints I needed! So it was definitely a worthwhile trip! Of course, I also picked up a few things for me :P

The first shot is a sneak peak of all the fabrics I got from Tricia's. Since there are a quite a few people reading this entry who will be receiving gifts made from said fabric, I won't post detailed photos of the fabrics until said gifts have been gifted. So you'll have to do with the teaser :P But I just had to share the scrumminess of it all!
The pink floral print is a gorgeous cotton(?) that will be perfect for a 50's dress. There's about 3m there if I recall correctly, so plenty there. The green leaf print has a really interesting texture, though that photo is washed out; the colour is best seen in the first photo. There were two pieces of this on the table, and I was tempted to get both, but opted to get the bigger piece. I'm considering using it as an accent fabric on my new Jedi, which has a green and brown colour scheme. It would make a lovely obi, with left overs for other bits.
The cherry print was just so perfect, I had to buy some for a lolita skirt! The border print runs along both ends, so I only bought 50cm (it was quite expensive, so that's all I could afford). I've got a few ideas in my head on how to utilise it. At the moment I'm leaning towards adding plain red inverted box pleats, but I want to do some more research before I settle on a design. This design also came in black ;) But we all know red is my colour!
I'm definitely tempted to go back before they close for good, and look at some other fabrics for various projects I have in my head at the moment!

And finally, I took some photos of other fabrics in my stash that have been inspiring me lately

The Pineapple/floral print is one of the oldest pieces in my stash, bought from Spotlight whilst I was still at school! The others were all bought last year when the Sydney City Lincraft was closing down. I have great plans for them all to become vintage dresses with matching belts and jackets!

One of the music prints I bought at Spotlight back home in Brissie and the other I bought from a girl in the US. I haven't decided which yet, but one is destined to become a lolita dress, the other I'm thinking vintage.

That first lot is various fabrics I've picked up from Spotty over the years: the two spotted ones were remnants. I was thinking of using the turquoise/brown floral for something steampunky.
The second one was a gift from sewaddicted which I plan to turn into something vintage! (Of course!)
The third lot: the floral is vintage from my mum. There's not much there, but I can totally see it as a cute blouse or short sleeved jacket. The red print is what I'm hoping to use to make a Christmas dress to wear out to our family lunch. It's just really stiff at the moment, so I'm hoping a wash will soften it. I like it because it says 'Christmas' without being too in your face!

And that's about it for the moment! Hopefully you can see why I've been so inspired to sew lately, but also why I've been procrastinating! There's just so many ideas, where on earth do I start?!? That is the question!
