Fake Film Meme: The Black Swan
It's a think on Tumblr to put together mock posters or screencaps for a made-up movie. I chose an "adaptation" of Mercedes Lackey's The Black Swan, which to be fair is sort of a trashy book (not that such a case has stopped me from reading it a good half-dozen times), but I do honestly think in the hands of the right screenwriter, it could actually be a pretty kickass film.
The classical story of Swan Lake is retold from the perspective of the sorcerer Von Rothbart’s
daughter Odile (Saoirse Ronan). A practitioner of magic herself, she is torn between her loyalty
to her father and her growing friendship with his captive, the Princess Odette (Sophie Turner).
When Von Rothbart (Donald Sutherland) gives Odette the chance to break the spell that keeps
her a swan by daylight, Odile takes it upon herself to help her friend meet the terms, that a
prince (Max Irons) must love and be loyal to her for all time. In the process, Odile starts to
suspect that her own freedom may be just another illusion.
