on holiday in London!
We arrived in London around noon on Saturday, Dec. 27th. Holly & Simon picked us up at Heathrow in their cute little Yaris. After seeing our three roller suitcases and the box with Holly’s SMR painting, Simon wondered if we would all fit, but it was no problem. The Yaris is quite roomy.
We’ve seen plenty of blue sky and sunny, though cold days since we arrived. (Enough so that it’s nice to have a layer of long underwear under your jeans.) Yesterday we celebrated Christmas. The delicious menu was the highlight:
Breakfast - scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and mimosas (orange juice with champagne!)
Dinner - roast chicken, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, brussel sprouts, and wine
Dessert - Holly’s plum pie and Christmas pudding (from Marks & Spencer) which Simon expertly lit on fire with brandy
Today we walked through Bushy Park, near Hampton Court Palace. We came upon several red deer, including males who were casually challenging each other with their antlers.
Holly & I have also enjoyed a little after-Christmas sale shopping. I now have a new warm, fuzzy black fleece scarf and glove set AND a new gold glittery scarf!
Tomorrow we’ll go into central London to see the musical, Billy Elliot!
