So, besides the fact that I fangirl Tseng and Elena more than anything else in FF7, this fic really works for them. It's pre-game, Elena and Tseng learning to work as a team. There's fabulously hot UST like burning, and I love the way both Elena and Tseng are written here. Mostly I love the competence. Yeah, in OGC Elena is kind of flaily and doesn't quite know when to be quiet, but she's still a Turk. You just don't get there without being pretty awesome. This fic really picks up on that, emphasizing both Elena's insecurity as the new kid on the team, and her sheer brilliance.
Another thing to love about this fic is the way the Turks communicate, Tseng especially: he's not particularly expressive, nor is he particularly prone to expressing approval in words. But Turks communicate a lot without words (they have to, to do their jobs well), and that is another big focus of this piece.
