It's been a really, really good weekend.
Friday night, Claire held a beach party. (In the midst of a snowstorm whose total accumulation was in the vicinity of a foot; what better time?) We went, and hung out for a while, and then headed home. Sleepings were had, and then Saturday we got up and did the usual breakfast thing. I played hours of Zuma, because apparently once I start I'm lost, and then we did the errands. In the snow. We had to dig my car out with a shovel. Siiiiiigh. But the errands involved the acquisition of a new graphics card for Taliesin, so I can haz MegaTen beta again :D Also going to get more RAM and then he should run brilliantly for a while yet.
We snuggled and watched the NFC game last night - don't get me started, I could rant for days about the damn Arizona Birdbrains and how the Panthers totally didn't even show up to the game and how wroth I am about it - and then went to bed early, because today was my Christmas present!
My present, for the record, was a ski trip. We drove up to Alpine Valley Resort in Wisconsin, which was maybe an hour to an hour and a half drive (Mike was driving. If I'd been behind the wheel, it'd have taken longer.) We rented skis and I made him endure a few runs down greens until I remembered how to ski. Then he took me down a black without telling me he was doing it - which was fine, actually, as Alpine Valley's blacks are actually blues (to my Colorado-trained and Colorado-spoiled self). It was a lot of fun, and I didn't fall at all on the slopes. I fell once getting off the lift (their lifts are excessively fast) and also once trying to get TO a lift, but you know, that's pretty good for someone who's not been on skis in nine years. It was a lot of fun, and a beautiful day, but the lift lines started getting crazy ridiculous long toward one-thirty or so and my out-of-shape ass was just about done, so we came back, ordered pizza, and watched the AFC playoff game.
(Also? O hai Eagles, well done. Also Ravens. I now have to root for the Ravens. Woe.)
Mike gave me a massage when we got back, which is good, but I can already feel my legs getting sore and I've even had a long hot shower. I can also feel it a bit in my shoulders, from trying to pole across the flat bits near the lifts, and my hands ache. But totally worth it. And I know I got a suitable workout today. XD
I'm also very tired, but I am absolutely positively NOT going to bed at 7 pm or I'll wake up at 3 am, and that's just not cool.
I'm two days behind on
getyourwordsout, but I'll catch up pretty easily, I think. Plus I tend to write in large chunks instead of small blocks. Mostly I'm making excuses, but that's all right. I'll catch up tomorrow.
Okay, going to go fiddle with games now. :)
p.s. Chicago, I love you in the summer, I do, but this constant snow assault has got to stop. we just had a foot or something and now you want to add 4 more inches? KITTY DOES NOT APPROVE, okay, STOP IT.
