Inviting Tranquility

It’s been a very productive evening so far; I can only hope that the trend continues from now!

I went from work straight to the ATM to deposit my paycheck from last week (augh I can’t wait for WaMu to finish merging with Chase because there will be a brand-new Chase a 5-minute drive/15-minute walk from my apartment soon!), and then hit the gas station on my way back. $2.25 a gallon! Awesome, my budget is back on track.

I got home at about 5:45, spent a few minutes snuggling the cat, and then in a total of half an hour had stripped the bed, sorted the laundry, put the first two loads of laundry in, emptied the dishrack in the kitchen, washed enough dishes to fill it up again, read today’s mail, and sorted through enough of the excess stuff on my desk to throw out a large pile of things. The rest of tonight’s chores include NaNo (34k, damn it, self), the rest of the dishes, making food for lunch for the next two days, and the rest of the laundry. Then my apartment will be pretty close to completely tidy! The desk still wants work, but I’ll get there slowly on my nano breaks.

It’s interesting that as much as I despise cleaning (and those of you who’ve visited me or who know me in real life know this to be true), I actually do like the feeling of having a clean and orderly place. There are some things in my life that must be orderly - my computers and my bookshelves, most especially my gaming books - or I start getting really antsy. However, I’m slowly getting better at keeping the rest of my things orderly too. My living room is constantly surprising me with how tidy it is.

Okay. Time to tidy up a couple more random things on my desk, change out the laundry, and get some NaNo words in before I cook dinner.

cleaning, another way to procrastinate, apartment
