So
puella_nerdii tagged me to explain seven of my interests, and seven of my tags.
They are as follows.
Interests
crossover multiverses - Mostly this is in relation to
first_seventhe's and my shared world, New Valendia. The short version is that we put all the FF's and Kingdom Hearts in a blender with Exalted and Shadowrun, and this resulted. So far I think we have about 5000 words of meta to justify this 'verse, and
celeloriel is going to come play too. We've figured out how each of the games work together, synthesized a way for all the different styles of magic-learning to work together, and worked out the majority of the political structure. This particular 'verse was loosely inspired by
laylah's SDR&R 'verse. And my last comment on the subject is that these 5000 words of meta and worldbuilding were built because we wanted to justify Demyx/Celes. Only Sev and I would do this. Really.
divination - So I've been Wiccan for about ten years now (omg, how has it been that long?) and one of the things I've really enjoyed researching is divination. I'm most proficient at first glance with runes (Elder Futhark), but I get excellent results with my Arthurian Tarot. I also use the ogham system. At present I own three sets of runes, four Tarot decks, a set of Ogham cards, and a set of Star Cards. I use them all, but most frequently the Tarot and runes (I have a gorgeous set of hematite runes.)
james clemens - is a fantasy author I discovered my freshman year of college. His world is both beautiful and deeply, deeply disturbing, with a lot of effort going into the structure of how magic works and what is possible to do with it. I haven't ever gotten around to re-reading the books, but I liked them very much at the time.
juliet e. mckenna is an English fantasy author who wrote The Tales of Einarinn. I love these books a lot; the calendar and the magic-structure are both completely fascinating, and I love the pantheon a lot. I was just thinking the other day that I ought to re-read those books.
juliet marillier is a fantasy author who wrote a trilogy called The Sevenwaters Trilogy. The first book, Daughter of the Forest, is a retelling of Hans Christen Andersen's "The Wild Swans," which is one of my favourite faerie tales ever. The latter two books didn't quite live up to the promise of the first, but they were still quite good.
patricia kennealy morrison is the widow of Jim Morrison of The Doors, and is also a fantasy author. Her series, The Keltiad, is based on the premise of Celts in Space, where the six Celtic countries become six planets, and operates mostly under the theory that sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, and vice versa. I was very very into these books in high school. From an older perspective, while I love the worldbuilding that went into it, the characterization falls a little flat and is very self-indulgent. I still love the books for having been totally awesome to me back then, and for the lessons they have taught me about worldbuilding and characterization, both positive and negative.
sioned is a character in Melanie Rawn's Dragon Prince, which is still one of my favourite books ever. I love the book in large part because the protagonists are so human and definitely fail. There was a very interesting set of antagonists and a lot of fascinating world stuff going on. It's a real pity the rest of the trilogy, and the successor trilogy, didn't live up to the promise of the first book, but I re-read it just a cuople of months ago and was once again astonished at how epically awesome it is.

because writing is totally like sex - So getting something down and getting it to work is realy satisfying and a great rush for me. And, at the same time, when I want to write and just can't, it's incredibly frustrating, just like it is when I try to write something and get it wrong. But I can draw a fair number of parallels between the two.
can i just lick it is either
first_seventhe or
katmillia's fault, from the first time they visited, and is mostly used to refer to things I really like or am having a lot of fun with.
coherence? fuck your coherence is for entries in which I am basically keyboard smashing without trying to make sense.
i do not want you to be pointy is also either Sev's fault or Katy's fault (I think Sev's), and is used for entries in which I am frustrated with something or someone.
most masochistic roleplayer evar is a reference ot the fact that whenever I write an RP character, i write in a bunch of horrible brain-breaking moments that are intended to be used to completely screw me over later. I also always write things into my backstory that are intended as plot-sticks for the game master to beat me over the head with. See also: taking the "Cursed" flaw and then deliberately tripping my curse in Dead City; playing a renegade Abyssal; various other shenanigans.
seifer can too bottom! - I am 99% certain that this can be blamed on
fanficrants, and somebody who informed
shanaqui that Seifer cannot bottom to anyone. This definitely spawned a fic frenzy among myself and my friends proceeding to make Seifer do exactly that, including one memorable tidbit by
shanaqui in which Seifer bottomed to the entire rest of the cast, including Angelo.
tremere prom is the annual party to kick off Dead City Productions. I think it's a hilarious name for such a thing.
