The only explanation I can come up with is that Maxilan Stragos told them he poisoned them, to keep them loyal until nothing further could be had of them, and that the antidote was nothing; a bit of water and herbs. I mean, there are seven books planned. And it looks like the next one is going to involve Sabetha, if I don't miss my guess; which is awesome, because I want to meet the woman who's got Locke Lamora tied up in gorgeous tangled messy knots.
