I can't decide if I like Phoenix Wright more or less on my second time through. (I'm replaying the first game so that the second one will make sense.) On the one hand, it's really nice that my memory of the first time is sufficiently good to power me through most of the annoying bits - i.e. not having to press every statement, not having to search for the right evidence, etc. On the other hand...it takes the fun of discovery out of kicking a witness's ass, because I'm just reciting the same line, not discovering new things.
I had a long conversation with Melzer tonight that started out being about fic and ended up being about characters in RPGs that I glom on to, an dhe made the interesting point that my archetype preferences are explicitly gender-linked. I illustrate with a list!
Favourite female characters: Rydia (FF4), Celes (FF6), Beatrix (FF9), Lulu (FFX), Paine (FFX-2), Ashe (FF12), Fran (FF12), Agrias (FFT), Rose (Legend of Dragoon), Drace (FF12)
Notice a trend? I like the reserved one who's usually a warrior (mage or otherwise).
Favourite male characters: Kain (FF4), Edge (FF4), Locke (FF6), Leo (FF6), Seifer (FF8), Auron (FFX), Balthier (FF12), Gabranth (FF12), Basch (FF12), Kaim (Lost Odyssey*)
*Caveat: Haven't finished LO.
Let's see...I like the rogue, and I like the doomed honourable knight.
Now, female rogues (see also: Rikku) I absolutely DO NOT WANT. But Melzer pointed out that I always gravitate toward an archetype as linked with gender, not the archetype on its own.
I am curious and thoughtful.
I am also sleepy.
Excited about tomorrow, though. There may in fact be epic awesome. Like, 4-5 dots of epic awesome (it is SO TOTALLY a valid epic Attribute, damn it.) I'm crossing my fingers muchly.
Oh, also,
penknife had a
really interesting post about how a content strike is actually giving SUP what they want (i.e. annoying users shutting the hell up and going away), so I vote talk your fingers off on Good Friday if it makes you happy.
