I have fucked up NaBloPoMo by about 10 minutes :( I forgot to post this entry before I went to DCP, and now it is too late. BOO. But it is still Saturday to me, since I've not slept, so does that count? Or did it literally have to be in the 24-hour period? I think for my purposes it totally counts. *nod*
Addendum to following ramble: oh my God, game rocked hardcore. The Praxis vote was fantastic and I totally did not expect
herod_the_nut to win, but it was still really hardcore, and
jrdameonhv wins at speeches, for real.
So, there's a thing I love about role-playing. It's that moment when everyone sitting around the table (or standing in the room) is 100% on their A game and they are so in character and talking to each other and you can just SEE that they have spent so much time getting inside that character's head that putting on that costume makes the voice come naturally.
I'm really looking forward to running my new Demon: the Fallen game because the last time I ran one, the players would just roleplay for hours at a time without any prompting or prodding from me - they'd get into a conversation and they'd be off, with everything coloured by their characters' perceptions and very little player-brain interference. We had entire gaming sessions where no one touched their dice. I'm hoping to recapture that in the new game, and I really think the player crew that I have will do it quite nicely.
So what type of tabletop/LARP gaming do you prefer? Do you want to break out the maps and hear the sweet music of clattering dice, or would you rather spend the entire session talking and accomplish your goals that way? Do you prefer a combination? Do your preferences vary based on the system you play and whether you're playing or running?
