Oh the weather outside is frightful
Let me just say I hate the cold up here. So much.
Today sucked. I indulged in chocolate therapy on my way home from work, then rustled up some leftovers (hot open-faced prosciutto and goat cheese sandwiches on French bread, with sliced pears. Mmmm.) Then I indulged in some pretty hardcore FFXII therapy, which I shall ramble about more tomorrow.
In the meantime, some thoughts on the difference between good fiction and bad fiction:
- Vincent is not anyone's "fluffy cuddle bunny." He is a goddamn Turk and can rip your fucking face off.
- Elena is a Turk. She can kill you a different way for each week of the year and that's just counting the ones that only require her bare hands. She is certainly not going to refer to Vincent as her fluffy cuddle bunny. I am amenable to shipping Vincent/Elena, but please, keep them in character.
- While I am entirely amenable to shipping Tseng/Elena, Rufus/Elena, Reno/Elena, Rude/Elena, Vincent/Elena or any possible combination of these things (we won't even get into slashing the Turks here), please remember something. Elena is not a fainting flower. She may not be the sharpest knife in the Turk drawer (or at least she may have difficulty remembering when to keep her mouth shut), but she is not a moron. She also is not a slut. She spends a lot of time trying to claw her way up the Shin-Ra ranks based solely on her own abilities, and is therefore not interested in fucking her way to the top. Plz to be remembering this when you are writing "Rufus corners Elena and threatens to fire her if she won't sleep with him!" type fics.
- Also? I'm going to quote someone here, I am relatively certain it is sister_coyote, and point out that Rufus's mentality is likely to be along the lines of "You are my Turks, not my whores." The Turks are a lot more useful to Rufus doing what they do than fucking him. He can get tail anywhere; he's the president of fucking Shin-Ra. Well-trained Turks are harder to come by. (And no, I am not touching the multiple interpretations of that sentence with a ten-foot pole.)
- Fandom needs a LOT more writers like bottle_of_shine, twilightsrain, katmillia, first_seventhe, celeloriel, laylah, ovo_lexa, fanaticalone, auronlu and sister_coyote. Lots more writers like you. The fanbrats make my brain explode.
