Fireworks

So, yesterday was a pretty good day, all things considered. (Especially considering it didn't involve work.) I got home from work Monday with unusual speed, given that everybody and their monkey's uncle either had the day off or took the day off, and set about getting food ready for yeseterday's barbecue. I set three dozen eggs on to boil and then peeled and cubed six potatoes, and set those to boil while I made dinner. Once everything was cooked, we had dinner (lemon-asparagus creamy chicken, rice, and veggies) and then I made lots of potato salad and deviled eggs. I played some Final Fantasy IV and realized I had been a total nincompoop earlier in that save file. See, when you first get the airship, you're supposed to go to Toroia, but you can also go roaming around. There's the town of Agart, which sells Iron weapons, and the town of Mythril, which sells Mythril weapons. Normally I stop by Mythril to re-equip before I head off to level up in Toroia, but this time I forgot to (no wonder it took me so bloody long to level up!). I realized this AFTER I got out of the Tower of Zot and already had more powerful weapons than I could buy in Mythril. *headdesk*

At any rate, I watched some X-Files with sabrielrose and herod_the_nut because it happened to be on and not much else is on at 11 or midnight on a weeknight, and then crashed. I got up around 11 yesterday and made the baked beans while calhin and sabrielrose set up a gazebo thingy outside (with various and sundry runs to Walgreen's and Dominick's). Then the gazebo wasn't big enough to provide enough shade for everyone, so calhin went and got a tarp, some conduit poles, and some string, and between he and Melzer rigged up a nice big sunshade out of the tarp.

A bunch of people came by, including some friends of Jack's, teki, asoniel and Joe, and bobbler. We had a ton of food and then cleaned up and headed out to see the fireworks, which were great. Someone behind us was making snarky remarks about halfway through the show about "Yeah, that happens to a lot of guys" which got bobbler and teki going about man-juice. *headdesk* The fireworks were really pretty though; the show was about 45 minutes long and there were many pretty explosions and loud noises. I really like the fireworks that leave sparkling trails as they fall and look like weeping willows. I don't know why. They just appeal to me. At the end of the show, though...

sabrielrose: So it was 45 minutes long with an explosive finish. Was it good for you?
Me: Wouldn't know.
sabrielrose: Well, you do still have that unicorn problem.

We headed back and hung out a little bit more, and then I crashed. Now I am back at work.

At least it's only a 3-day week from here.

fireworks, fourth of july, ooh shiny, video games
