cool and brisk and crisp

Fall is here, with a vengeance. Last week it was in the 70s (and the weather app on my phone suggests that next week it will be so as well), this week it's in the 50s and 60s, grey, and rainy. Suddenly, fall. I am enjoying it being cool enough to properly sleep while covered in cats. (Zelda is not enjoying it; poor baby gets cold easily, which just makes her extra EXTRA snuggly.)

I have been remiss in posting. Let's see, what has happened since last I did? Saturday we went to the wedding of a pair of mutual friends, which was fun and different. I hadn't been to a wedding in that particular tradition before and it was really interesting. We ended up bowing out early because I got bitten by bugs or stepped on something or SOMETHING, and my toes got very itchy and uncomfortable. So we went home so I could slather my feet with Benadryl cream.

Monday night I went to dinner with
inyri, whom I hadn't seen in a while and hadn't had a chance to talk to, one on one, in a long time. It was really good to reconnect, and I'd like to make time to do it more often. I came home and steadfastly ignored all things political in favor of books and tea.

Other than that, it's been a pretty quiet week of devouring many, many books (I think I have four that I need to review) and grinding forever in FF14, since for reasons unbeknownst to myself I am so fucking motivated by achievements, UGH, and I am trying to get all of the Yo-Kai weapons. (I have ten. I'm halfway to the eleventh. Pray for me.)

I've apparently been upping my game with regard to FF Record Keeper; I have solidly cleared the first two sections of the Dooms event without much trouble, even though monk is really far from my best set of characters. Also I finally cleared my first Ultimate with FF6 characters, though I've not done well at trying the FF10 one. Still, it's progress, and more than I had ever accomplished before. :)

Also today, I sat down and made a very pretty bullet journal layout for October. It's an expansion of something I spent the last year doing, which was maintaining a "done" list every day, rather than a "to-do" list. I really liked this BuzzFeed article about journal layouts for mental health, and so I ordered myself many pretty pens and a nice grid-dotted Moleskine that's a pretty ocean blue, and I'm going to give it a try. A lot of my daily to-dos have now been transformed into check-mark things, but also a mood tracking thing and a way of logging events and such. I'm excited to give it a try and work out what sorts of things I need to add to it (or subtract from it) to get the most value.

In other news, the ramp-up to NaNoWriMo begins. I'm hosting a productivity party tomorrow where in theory I will work on outlining my novel, but in actuality I probably should focus more on the short story I might be submitting for an anthology, which would be due on October 15. We'll see. I like the idea of the story, but I am genuinely struggling with getting the words to actually happen, which is probably the fault of my lack of focus more than the story itself. Discipline, I can do it. I can do it.

And that's about it in the land of Rina.
