This week has been mildly ridiculous. Tuesday a migraine tried to set in, and I beat it back to being about forty percent functional, and that took up most of Wednesday too. Thursday night we played our Exalted game.
This whole week has also been hardcore from a work perspective; Monday and Tuesday were the calm before the storm, because I was doing a lot of "hurry up and wait" for other people to set up the things I needed, and then Wednesday it became possible for me to get started on projects, at which point I promptly started having to also spend most of my day in meetings that were not related to those projects. Naturally.
Things at work are going to be hardcore busy for a while, which is fine--it means the day goes by faster--but also a lot of the busy-ness is going to be the most tedious parts of my job (software testing and doing massive batches of extremely tedious changes) instead of the parts that are interesting and engaging, so I'm not sure how that's going to go. I foresee much caffeine.
Last night we went out to dinner and then wandered over to the Apple Store so I could buy my birthday present to myself (a couple weeks early, but oh well.) I am now the pleased owner of a 9.7" iPad Pro! (128 GB, Wifi + cell.) I spent last night backing up the old one, which is a second-gen and therefore extremely creaky and slow. I also got a Logitech CREATE keyboard since one of the main reasons for having this is having a more portable writing option than my laptop. I tested that out earlier playing around with a fic I've been working on for
genprompt_bingo, and I definitely love Scrivener for iOS when I have a real keyboard to work with. Also, it's great to touch an icon and have the iPad react immediately, instead of it taking literally over a minute to load a new tab in Safari.
Today we went up to meet my in-laws at the Chicago Botanic Gardens, which was a lovely walk until it started to rain, and then we went off to get a late lunch. Paladin and I hit up the grocery store afterward, and then came home and taped off the downstairs guest room and put on a primer coat in preparation for painting it for real. Once the painting is done, we need to get a mattress set, and then I have some linens I can use until I decide what the final decorating is going to be. (But since we have to do some repairs relating to rain and its effects on the house, frivolities like new linens when the existing ones are acceptably serviceable are going to have to wait. And yes, I know I just bought an iPad, but I've been saving for that all year.)
Anyway, that was a lot of activity today and I am definitely tired. But all of my Required Adulthood for the weekend is done, so now I get to have video games for the remainder, and that's worth it.
And on that note, time to actually go do the damn Moonfire Faire event in FF14, since I got distracted by something or other the last time I was online.
