minutiae make up a life.

A Camp NaNoWriMo winner is me! I still have a few chapters to write and a few more to polish (and I had a meltdown this morning about how my characters do not have sufficient growth and evolution which was promptly, and correctly, demolished by
celeloriel who has the patience of a saint when it comes to my nattering), but. I have given the entire thing a read-over and I am mostly okay with where it is. There are some things I still want to adjust, but I'm so close. SO CLOSE.

It has been a busy week at work and therefore a quiet one at home. Today I finished a 20-page requirements document with three auxiliary spreadsheets and sent it out to a terrifying number of people. It is the culmination of two months' worth of information gathering and so. much. chasing people down to demand more information from them (and even then I was doing a ludicrous amount of inference.) But it is done and I did a good job and I'm proud of it.

It's been a chilly, rainy, grey, generally unfortunate week, and all I really want is a mound of blankets, a cup of hot tea, cats, and a nice book. Instead I have been attempting to accomplish things and am kind of grumpy about it. I might decide to spend Sunday in a lump of "whatever appeals." (On the other hand I made some really excellent food this week, including some great roasted comfort food.)

I'm inching forward in Bravely Second and I have a few more thoughts on that. I've returned to Al-Khampis after the Ba'al quest. I did the Red Mage/Thief sidequest, and it was surprisingly hard to choose. Not just because both jobs are great, but also because both sides had compelling arguments for their goals. (How the fuck did you make De Rosa a reasonable character, game, I don't understand. HE WAS SUCH AN AMAZING DOUCHELORD IN THE FIRST GAME AND NOW HE'S JUST KIND OF OKAY??? WHAT THE FUCK.) In the end, the possibility of beating up De Rosa again for his sins in Florem was too compelling (and also the trade-off calculus is less inclined to De Rosa's side when somnial energy is not a guarantee but only a theory.) Also, dualcast.

I am already tired of the Ba'al Buster jokes, but I suppose if that's the worst thing this game pulls on me (instead of the entirety of Chapter 2 of the original, aaaaaaagh), I will accept it with grace. Anyway, I killed the technicolor spider freak, and now I guess there will be more plot.

I enjoy Magnolia although I'm pretty sure she's going to screw me over eventually. I love how much Yew is clearly a Good Guy even though he's sort of a doofus. ALL FAIRIES ARE CLEARLY EVIL. oh, my god, so evil.

Also, I'm having ridiculous fun with the Chompers game. I set it up and then go play dumb phone games, and come back to CP! It's great! I bet it was specifically designed for this. XD

And that's my life at the moment. Weekend, where are you? I desire video games.
