It's so nice outside. SO NICE. It has been beautiful for like 3 days and it's perfect and I'm so thrilled. (Back to more seasonable/chilly/rainy weather tomorrow, but for now - it's 80 degrees and sunny and I am made of bliss.)
Friday night I met paladin for dinner and the acquisition of video games - he picked up a copy of Arkham Knight, and I finally got Bravely Second. THE SHINY IS MINE. Our first choice for food was incredibly crowded and our second turned out to have closed (alas!), so we went to an Irish pub that we enjoy and then wandered back home. Since I took the train to meet him, my car was still by the train station. Instead of driving to pick it up, we walked - about 3 miles - and stopped for frozen custard, then I drove us home. It was a pleasant night and a nice walk, and I made 15K steps on Friday, because I'm awesome.
I somehow kept myself from digging into Bravely Second immediately, since I knew I was So Damn Close to the ending of Final Fantasy Explorers (like, within 3-4 quests.) Instead, I wrapped that up, and I'm glad I did. FF Explorers is kind of an odd duck for me - basically 0 characterization, no plot, nothing but murdering monsters for fun and profit - but I enjoyed it immensely and I think I'll likely go back and pursue some of the extras eventually when I pull my head out of Bravely Second.
Saturday I took the cats in for their checkup and rabies vaccinations. I am informed that Ganon is too fat (.....sigh) and Zelda is losing weight again (....sigh) so I have to keep an eye on that. I'm not quite sure what to do since I am pretty sure that the vet's suggestion (only put their food down for 30-60 minutes twice a day) is going to exacerbate the issue with Zelda while not doing much for Ganon, but I guess we'll give it a try. :/ I am kind of curious what they think Ganon should weigh given that he's literally twice Zelda's size.
Yesterday it was so perfectly glorious outside that I ended up walking to do the grocery shopping (there's a grocery store about 3/4 of a mile from our house, and I only needed two things, neither super heavy.) I made spaghetti-squash-and-black-bean tacos for dinner, and the convinced paladin that we should go get ice cream. There's a lovely ice cream shop right by the grocery store. So we went for a walk in the lovely evening, and played some video games, and then I made some Very Poor Decisions regarding reading before sleep. I tried to go to sleep around 1; fitbit says I didn't fall asleep until 2 and basiaclly got 2.5 hours of sleep. I'm remarkably alert today despite that but I bet I'll crash hard later.
I finally did get to start Bravely Second though! Non-spoilery gameplay thoughts: this sure is familiar, in a great way. I have unlocked one entire job besides freelancer, and I have a lot of special moves unlocked since I finally got the village so I'm immediately putting my time into that.
and now some plot thoughts, including Eternia/Gravemark Village
WELL I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT TO BE HOW WE SPLIT UP THE THREE CAVALIERS
I see we're just not pulling any emotional punches from the starting line, that's cool, that's fine, everything is--NO DAMN IT I AM MAD ABOUT NIKOLAI!!! And Janne but that's fixable, mostly Nikolai.
Edea remains a delight, I'm so glad she's here. ♥
Cu Chulainn is. Well. He sure is a thing. (Bro, they definitely had doors in your day, calm down.) Bella is also certainly something. I have obtained Magnolia and am making my way to the Skyhold to rescue Agnes, by which I probably mean "find Tiz and then get derailed by plot." But, so it goes. I just want more asterisks.
And that's that!
