lazy daisy

I definitely fell asleep on the couch for two hours this afternoon. OOPS. In fairness I've been exhausted all week and didn't entirely feel like I caught up last night. And then I woke up this morning and paladin and I were trying to have sexy snuggle times, and Zelda decided that she was going to jump right up on top of us and have a bath. cats. what the hell, cats.

Anyway, I think I made up for it with dinner. I made salmon with a fresh herb and shallot vinaigrette (I made twice as much asparagus as called for and put it on the side instead of on top of the salmon) and mustard-roasted potatoes, the latter as a dry run for the fancy Easter dinner I plan to make, and it was AMAZING. I did a complete dinner success and it was totally worth the effort in the kitchen, omg.

(Recipe notes: I made the salmon with basil, mint, and tarragon, and I also baked it at 325 for about 18 minutes and then turned it up to 425 for another ten and it is cooked *exactly* as I prefer, which is to say still moist but quite done. I halved the potato recipe except I forgot to halve the butter, which I do not even care about because it was SO DAMN GOOD.)

On a related note, our grocery run this morning was sort of hilariously adults-eating-real-food; all whole vegetables and fresh fish and fresh herbs and the only thing that wasn't completely designed to be cooked from scratch was some fresh ravioli. I live in a house of people who cook, what can I say. (which is going to be really useful when we try to do a fancy multi-course meal for Easter! I am also very fortunate that paladin loves to cook and is willing to indulge my penchant for throwing parties.)

Now I have wine and FF14, and this may end in hilarious tears when I try to run high-end raids, but whatever. :D
