pete_thomas asked, "We know you like to write and game, but do you have any other hobbies?"
I'm going to be pedantic and interpret "game" specifically as relating to video games, because it will let me talk about more things!
So, one of my major hobbies outside the internet is tabletop/pen and paper roleplaying, and also live-action RP. I'll talk more about LARP at a later date because I was specifically asked about that, but TABLETOP. Let me tell you of my love of tabletop. I've been doing it for about fourteen years (help why is that true) and I started in
oberndorf's Mage: the Ascension game, in which some Technocrats just couldn't resist pushing the big, red, shiny, candy-like button and exploded themselves back in time to Ceoris Chantry just as Clan Tremere was forming. I joined the game late as a native guide, sole survivor of House Diedne, and I was utterly hooked. (I had previously rolled up a Changeling for
enthusastick's game which never quite got off the ground.)
I almost exclusively play from White Wolf; I'm in a long-running Exalted game in which we are Solars with about 400 XP on us, aka machines of destruction, and I'm also in a Dragon-Blooded game and running my own Solars game and in a mixed circle. That being said, there's a lot of Exalted in my life and I'm pining to go back to World of Darkness, which basically means I'm slavering over Mage 20th Anniversary and IS IT IN MY FUCKING HANDS YET. I'm not as keen on the NWoD stuff; I have played Requiem and some bits of Awakening, but they don't grab me. (Mage: the Ascension is my one true love for tabletop, I think. Also, my fucking kingdom for Scion with a fucking functional mechanical system.) I've played bits and pieces of Call of Cthulhu, Shadowrun, Paranoia, Dungeons & Dragons, and Star Wars: Saga Edition, but those aren't my true loves.
I also do various fabric crafts; I embroider and crochet, I can mostly not embarrass myself with a sewing machine, and I'd like to learn to knit. I do canvas-stitching, too. I prefer stamped embroidery to counted cross-stitch, but sadly it's in limited supply comparatively.
I love to cook and I like to bake (cooking is better than baking because it's pretty forgiving of my extremely casual style of "eh, that looks close.") I do not like to clean. XD
I read constantly; I stopped counting my books-read this year when I hit 62, but it's higher than that now. My home genres are fantasy and romance, with occasional forays into SF and nonfiction. Usually when I read nonfiction it's for writing research purposes, though I've been known to do it for fun on occasion. Primarily this is because reading is an escape for me, and I want to enjoy my escapism.
Let's see, what else do I do? I would like to learn to draw, but I haven't put the time in to master it. I do spend some time watching TV (usually while level-grinding or doing some kind of fabric crafting), and my preferences there are Criminal Minds, various flavours of NCIS, plus Grimm, The Blacklist, and Agents of SHIELD. Yes. I have types. Fight me.
