They are blue and pretty :) And also I bought a sports bra. Now that I have invested money in this habit, I will totally be more assiduous about it, right? (This is not necessarily right. past investment is no guarantee of future completion. Just look at my backlog.)
But my shoes are very pretty indeed.
On a totally unrelated note, I've been on a kick of rereading my extensive collection of Elizabeth Lowell novels. I really love her writing style, and she makes me laugh, and I enjoy her plots and her characters a lot. But I find I am kind of frustrated with a particular thing she has, wherein the female lead never enjoys performing femme. Antagonistic women can enjoy performing femme, as can supporting characters who are older or professionals of some flavor, but the female lead is always casual, beautiful without trying, thinks of fancy shoes as instruments of torture (which is admittedly a mindset I often share), et cetera. It's actually a little frustrating because sometimes I'd like acknowledgment of how much fun it can be to get dressed up.
Yet Nora Roberts, who's another one I read voraciously (though I prefer Elizabeth Lowell), manages to have leads who run the gamut from totally casual to high femme and each one enjoys her particular thing, which I like a lot.
tl;dr Rina has feelings about romance novel genre conventions.
