March Roundup, April Goals, and quarter-year review.

Mar 31, 2013 13:38

End of March means March goal posts, and a round-up of progress on annual goals. Yes.

Video Games
March Goals:
* Beat FF3 for Moogle U; minimum three posts about it as I'm doing so (excluding start/end posts.) (I am already off to a stellar start with the TPK I gave myself in Kazus.)
* Beat Magical Diary.
* Keep on having awesome times in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Accomplished! And I beat Move Jewel and Chaos Rings, both iOS games.

As far as yearly goals go, I'm doing well - I wanted to beat more than I'd bought and so far I have beaten 7 and bought 4, so that's good. (No Moogle U games counted toward the beaten tally, except FF1, because i hadn't played this version before.) In the following list, asterisks indicate I completed everything in addition to beating it.

For April:
* Beat FF4 for Moogle U; do at least two gameplay posts.

Yes. A very short goal. For reasons shortly to be discussed.

Writing
March Goals:
* 17K words
* Post all seven of my AreYouGame prompts in a timely manner
* Finish chapter 2 of "Storm Waves"
* Edit and post chapter 1 of "Every Light", since I now have beta notes
* Beat the first six chapters of Trilogy 1 into good shape.

I wrote 17,026 words this month. I also did finish all my AYG prompts, but I did not post my prompts in a timely manner at all, or do any of the other stuff. I mean, I got some words on "Storm Waves," but I didn't finish the chapter. OOPS.

Annual goal review: I have definitely been posting at least 1K of fic per month, and I am reasonably on-track for 200K this year. (I've written about 42K so far this year, which is only about 4K off my aim of 15K per non-NaNo month.) None of my project-specific goals have improved, but that'll change next month.

April Goals:
* 25K words for Camp NaNoWriMo on the 2012 NaNoWriMo.
* Write my DOINK! fic

Yes I am very good at reasonable goal setting and also scheduling things. Totally. (This is why my video game goal looks like it does.)

Money
March Goals:
* Continue to reduce eating-out expenses.
* Keep an eagle eye on shopping and don't do much of it.
* Have $300 left at the end of the month for credit cards.

.....well. Okay. So I did a lot of shopping with my mom the very first weekend, which I knew was going to happen so I'm not sure why I set myself an actually impossible goal! good going, me! If not for the car breaking, though, I would have had $250 left at the end of the month for credit cards. (As it is, I do have $250 but it's all going to paying off the car.)

Annual review: I've saved $200/month every month, and an extra $1000 from my three-paycheck month. My credit card is only down to $9300 but I am owed ~$400 from my healthcare savings account and I haven't made this month's payment yet, so I think I'm actually making decent progress there. (Fucking car breaking.)

April Goals:
* Pay off car costs
* Bring lunch to work 4 days a week
* Order out food no more than twice a week.

Self
March Goals:
* Conquer two more things from the Pile of Shame.
* Put books on wish list; don't buy them.
* Start Graceful Wicked Masques and read at least two chapters.
* Twice a week, 25 minutes of step aerobics.
* Twice in March, 30 minutes of yoga.
* One DW post a week outside of MU.
* Unfuck my habitat: two 20/10s per week minimum.

....I read six books this week. I also only bought two books this month, both on excellent sale; everything else went on wishlist. I did not read Graceful Wicked Masques because I've not had brain enough for it, nor did I do much working out (but I did start adjusting my food habits a little bit and it seems to be going well both mentally and physically.) I did do one DW post a week outside of MU. I did completely unfuck my bedroom, though not the rest of the house.

Annual review:
* Continue to improve handling my anxiety.
* Improve my physical shape; I don't care about weight but I want to be better at physical activity.
* Get all my ducks in a row for the wedding.
* Actual spiritual practice. High Holiday rituals and prayer on Esbats.
* Improve my time management; instead of derping around on the Internet because I can't decide what to do, pick something and start it. If I get bored and switch, that's okay. Just start something.
* One hour a week of French study outside class (at least through June).
* Become better at answering emails and reading things in a timely fashion.
* More posting and interaction on Dreamwidth. Consistently. At least one meaningful post a week outside Moogle U; comment more!
* Stop making everything a chore.

I am getting a lot better at anxiety, which probably has a lot to do with it being brighter and happier outside. I'm not doing great at physical shape yet. I am way, way ahead of schedule on all wedding-related things (though I've been doing it at a pace that has caused me serious panic, which is not ideal. I need to stop that.) I have not done much in the way of spiritual practice, but I am doing better at JUST DOING SOMETHING instead of doodling on the Internet. I have not done much French study, but I am mostly getting better at email and Dreamwidth. I'm also trying hard to not make everything a chore.

I am not doing too badly, actually.

April Goals:
* Continue to unfuck my habitat. April goal: the kitchen.
* Pick a DJ and a florist; figure out a theme for invitations.
* Go for a walk, once a week, even if it's only a mile.
* Go to class every week.
* One non-complain/wordcount Dreamwidth post every week.
