So it has been an excellent several days!

So, yesterday the paladin and I went out to dinner at Ruth's Chris Steak House, to celebrate his birthday. unf. Food porn. Such amazing steak. (I love Chicago for its steak if nothing else. prrrrr.) And au gratin potatoes (which I should really learn to make properly instead of making them from a box), and asparagus with hollandaise, and a really excellent mango martini. (Boy's glass of claret was also excellent.) Oh, and crabmeat-stuffed mushrooms, which might be one of my favourite appetizers ever.

Also? The creme brulee is justifiably praised and award-winning. (And they have excellent port, and delicious moscato.) Food. Porn.

Today we finished hanging up the artwork in the apartment and took pictures, so as soon as I steal those off the paladin's camera I will post them here. Then we went out to dinner with his parents and sister, the latter of whom is going to the UAE to teach for a couple of years, so this was a farewell dinner sort of thing. Delicious, delicious seafood was had, and a meandering walk round the lake.

On the way back, we stopped at Best Buy, where I picked up an external HD for my MacBook, and a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium for the same, and a mouse. I HAVE A MOUSE. It is a Logitech and is super comfy and fits my hand perfectly, so I can actually *do* serious projects like organizing photos and updating Delicious Library and such, which I deeply fear doing with a touchpad. (I know from experience that too much mousing on a touchpad is death for my wrists.)

We came home, and there were video games, and then thanks to some impromptu tech support from adamjury, I got my MacBook backed up, Parallels downloaded and installed, and Windows 7 set up in VM. I also managed to install Liquid Story Binder, although I have yet to experiment with getting my own books imported (since they are still on the Windows machine.) But assuming I can make that work with a minimum of panic, I am all set for NaNoWriMo! Well, apart from still needing a plot, and characters besides Our Heroine and Our Hero (both of whom are immeasurably broken and it makes me happy.) Yay origific for NaNo!

My other accomplishment for the day was a balsamic-glazed peach sundae. It was amazing. (I love that site in general, because it has fantastic recipes for ultra cheap.) I do think the vinegar flavor is just a little too strong--I might cut back the proportions to be dead equal butter and vinegar, but still. So. Delicious. (It has been a weekend for amazing food!)

I've been making some pretty good progress in video games; I'm up to New Year's Eve in Persona 3 Portable, and I've gotten the second ending for each character in Muramasa: the Demon Blade. So soon my Backloggery stats will be updating.

Speaking of video games I am like a million years late to the party but omfg jfc the Dragon Age 2 trailer give give give want want want want. I still need to finish Origins, because after Orzammar I just...couldn't deal, but dkfjlkjsdf want want want.

Okay. Going to go back to half-watching the Paladin play Infamous and mostly playing more Persona 3 Portable. Should be done with that this week, no problem.

restaurants, video games own my soul, persona 3, cooking, om nom nom, muramasa: the demon blade
