Hello, everyone. It's been quite a while since I've posted to LJ. Lately, I've been posting to
http://lang-8.com/ in Japanese. I write there almost every day. It's great practice and it keys me in to real Japanese conversation versus textbook conversation. It's hard to believe I've only been studying Japanese for 5 months. I feel quite good at it, considering my level of understanding. I have been proactive in finding ways to learn beyond what is required for the class. I find it incredibly interesting, beyond almost anything else I've done. It's about at the same level as my interest in computers.
I've been working my butt off in the rest of school, too. This semester seems like it will turn out well, and I should hopefully be a sophomore for next semester. This will be the first time I've ever made it this far in university. Well, out of one other attempt. Japanese has made me a much better student overall. My work ethic has improved and I've started finishing big assignments, such as projects and papers, early. In fact, I think I may even get the maximum score for my latest Java project, 110! Here's hoping, at least. Ah, and my English professor mentioned that my paper is one of the few papers she's looking forward to reading. No pressure there. My previous draft, which was purely a persuasive essay, scored an A+ and was used as an example of how to write with voice and persuasion. Woohoo! Now, I just have to add 2500 words of research to it, and it'll be all good.
At this point, I'm trying to inundate myself with Japanese wherever I can. I've set the local in Windows to Japan, and all other various settings to Japanese. I'm using Japanese Firefox and Thunderbird, as well. I created a random google account so I could have iGoogle default to Japanese, as well. Normally, I'm not logged in to google, but I figured it would be helpful.
Anyways, that's enough LOLJAPAN for now. Keep well, everyone!
