finally settled in...after months!
So, Mike and I are finally settled in to our new place after months of being in limbo in this city. We just go the internet the other day and everything in this new apartment is slowly coming together. Is it perfect? No. But it's liveable and comfortable. Money is still a little (ok, a lot) tight so we have a lot of materialistic desires for this place, but those are just going to have to wait until we can afford them more comfortably. The only big purchase for this place was the first weekend we moved in we took a trip to IKEA and got a coffee table and two side tables - and it was IKEA so they were relatively cheap.
The best news I have is that Mike got the job at Equal Exchange - here's their website if you're interested - http://www.equalexchange.com/ - He will be the Quality Control Assistant. In other words, he will be tasting & analyzing coffee every day. Dumb luck, i tell ya. This is the sweetest job I've heard of in a long long time. Jealous? Yes, I am but I'm more excited for him than anything else. If one of us had to get out of their temp jobs, it was definitely him. I can handle mine. It's not great, but I enjoy the people I work with and most days are slightly satisfying (when I'm not getting yelled at by customers). My certification is still in limbo and the RI department of education is THE MOST frustrating goverment place I've ever encountered. The women I speak to (if I can actually get a hold of them) are the meanest women I've met. They don't return my emails or phone calls and I'm not really sure where I stand right now because no one will help me. I'm about ready to just drive there and knock on someone's door - they have to listen to me then. The only step I've really been able to take is sign up for the Praxis on Aug. 5th - which I signed up at the last minute (b/c I didn't know about it) and it ended up costing me a little under $200!!! So I better pass it.
All in all, things are good. I'm excited to get a real job of my own, but couldn't be happier for Mike. He starts on Aug. 1st.
And since we just got the internet a few days ago I'm trying to get back in touch with everyone since we moved.
