Hoggywartyxmas Rec Post

Jan 05, 2024 08:19

Well, here we are. Posting has concluded for the final Hoggywartyxmas fest. In some ways, a sad time for Hoggywartians, but all good things do indeed have an end, and it is time. For more than a decade, Hoggywartyxmas has been a joyous gathering of HP fans and the repository of some of the very best fandom works of all kinds ever created.

It's all still there, and you could do worse things with your time than to go back through the rich tapestry woven through the years to revisit old favorites, to perhaps find a treasure that you missed before, or simply to re-experience the joy of the peak of HP fandom.

There have been other great exchanges, Beholder, for example, but to me, Hoggy stands apart.

And so I honor this rich heritage by being ruthless in selecting recs for this year. (Really, just check them all out.)

And now... (Please to note my usual crude links. I am software challenged.)

The 1st Day of Hogwarts - 1 - "My Journal of Being 13 and Our Trip to Schotland" by Adela

Do read the indicated precursors to this story if you haven't. This story of a muggle girl discovering magic does exist, and indeed runs in her family gives us one of the best and most delightful OCs ever, Adela. There are appearances by beloved (or maybe not) canon characters as well. Simply put, this is a damn fine bunch of stories, and if you are reading this then you need to read them all.

This work beggars description. Singers from around the globe participated, and I believe there is some actual witchcraft involved here. It is beautiful, and joyful, and will lighten your heart. This is the little Christmas that we all need the whole year 'round.

This picture would bring a smile to Ebenezer Scrooge. Heck, I smiled. No hints, just go see it.

Now this one might well have you on the edge of your seat for a while. The word "ominous" barges to mind. It is a complex web that is woven here, but do examine it thread-by-thread. You will be glad that you did.

May there be no moaning of the bar, as Hoggywartyxmas sets out to sea.
