Hey ho. I was hoping they'd go older and edgier rather than younger and more floppy haired.

But since I don't know anything about the guy I'm in no position to judge.

I was just saying a second ago that they could actually make this guy play a much 'older' and contemplative Doctor (deliberately contrasting with his youthfulness) and it would work really well. Back to the alien Doctor rather than another Tennant.

The concern is another Tennant, but maybe Moffat will show some imagination here.

Actually, yes. Take his personality in a different direction to his looks, and have people underestimate him because of his apparent age.

I agree with Andy's agreement.

Dude, Americans elected a black president, but Brits can't even have a black Who...

If it had been a democratic vote, I do wonder who would be in the role now.

I wanted the guy from Neverwhere. Hey ho.

I actually read something that argued that he couldn't be the Doc because then every historical story would be all about his race rather than just getting on with the story. I mean wtf?? I can't take that kind of argument seriously, but if anything having that in stories would make things a hell of a lot more interesting - he's all about challenging people/bigoted wankers! Gah.

The guy we've got now could be fine, but needs to have something unexpected and un-Tennant about him. The older Doc in a really young body as I've mentioned above could be great and be a cool Thing for him to work with.

What, Richard Mayhew?

Interesting choice they've made, anyway. Does look superficially David Tennantish, but that may well be misleading...

Never heard of him, but I'll certainly give him a chance. I still haven't seen the fourth series of the current Who. I'm falling behind!

You didn't miss much storywise, but Catherine Tate was surprisingly very good as the new companion. I actually wound up really liking her. Quite sad.

I'm not impressed but i do have respect for Moffat so i'm hoping he knows what he's doing. I'm witholding judgemet until i've seen him in the show.

And hey, at least this guy looks like an alien ;)

This is true. I just kept thinking that they've purposely went overboard on the hair and the mannerisms to try to get attention away from what they're worrying might be a fairly ordinary face. I'm quite hopeful about him and Moffat and I'll certainly be glad to see the back of RTD!
