In a stroke of genius, I managed to leave my Canon G10 outside last night. And oh, guess what, it didn't just rain, it fucking stormed.

I can only pray to the gods that the rice trick does the job. Otherwise, FML. I can't exactly afford another $500 camera right now (and I'm too snobby to settle for less). :(

ninevah used to work at a camera shop, used to be HEAVY into cameras and photography. Both he and I knew that turning a wet electronic on was the very last thing we wanted to to if we wanted to save it. Hell, sometimes we even run our keyboards (the pc ones, not the lappy ones, mind) under the shower to clean out the gunk, and then let them dry for a handful of days.

We have friends who've dunked their phones, laptops, mp3 players and then stupidly turned them on that the lesson has certainly stuck. We're not planning on turning it on for probably a week or so, just to be sure.

The Zorb-it sounds cool. Looks like it's mailorder only though, and time is of the essence now... So I think I'm going to get the crystals cat litter and switch it from the rice to that tomorrow evening. Bonus to that is whatever litter is left over we can use in the boxes. Heh.

I called Nin while I was on break tonight, and we were laughing about how is this was a film camera, it'd be so much easier. Just go over it with denatured alcohol and wham, all better. Damn digital technology. ;)
