Your path and attitudes with Dr Who almost mirrors my own to a tee.

I'm interested to see the "new guy".

The jailors of Prisoner Zero assessing the Doctors, with the flash of ALL the actors who've played that esteemed character over the years was a wonderful nod to the past amidst all these changes.

They did that in The Next Doctor, too. It was like they were finally really acknowledging it, after a few side lines over the first three seasons and the Fifth Doctor showing up in Time Crash.

And well right they should. It also lets new fans know that this is a long legacy.

There seemed to be the blend of the modern in with the steampunky bits, so that at least soothed my ruffled feathers. I loved the typewriter instead of the keyboard. And the heart of the Tardis... I was waiting for large temperature globes to float around in it.

Kris was so excited by the new episode that he called me at school yesterday to tell me about it. He grew up watching the Tom Baker-era Dr. with his dad, so much like you, he has the nostalgia thing going for him. I watched the new series with him, and felt the same about the Eccleston/Tennant switch, but grew to love Tennant as well. Now I'll have to swing back 'round and watch the new episode myself!
