Okay, haven't posted in a while.
Three Fridays ago we had a working dog come in with a fractured leg. Turns out the handler threw the dog on the ground when the dog bit him. The guy didn't have a scratch on him, the dog had a shattered femur. I hope the handler gets in trouble.
The week before last I didn't do much. Monday we had a PT test. Usually when there's a PT test they have us do whatever we can do even if we're on profile, but this time they had me sit aside and keep time even though I can do sit-ups and push-ups, so all my preparing was for nothing. Later that week my receptionist and I decorated the clinic for Halloween, my favorite holiday. I wish I could just leave the decorations up all year.
Last week I flew to Maine for a much-needed vacation. I stayed with my aunt that week which was fun because 1. she has three cats, and 2. I got to meet my baby cousin Carson, who is adorable. It was a fun week, I got to relax, go to Newbury Comics (one of my favorite stores), touched up the roots in my hair (since the hair salon on base is terrible), spent some time with my Grandfather and his girlfriend, and went to a Halloween party.
The only thing I didn't like all week was I didn't hear from Aaron at all which was strange and made me worry, but after I got back from the Halloween party I saw I had an e-mail. Apparently he hadn't been able to e-mail me because they had to go out on a run at the last minute, his first mission since being deployed there. I asked him how it went, he said they got shot at and the vehicle they were transporting got the windows shot out but no one was hurt.
I've been bugging Aaron to give me his mailing address but he still hasn't gotten around to it yet, which sucks because I keep buying candy and stuff to send to him, it's taking up space haha. I have to bring Aaron to Maine sometime, I know he would love it.
Sunday I came back to Maryland. I miss Maine even more now that I was just there, it's such a perfect state. Sometimes I wish I wasn't in the military just so that when I have kids I could raise them in Maine, but I'm not leaving the military any time soon.
I was on leave Monday so I didn't come back to work until yesterday. We had clinic appointments all day, and of course I had a stack of files waiting for me on my desk. Last night I watched some of the Stephen Colbert/Jon Stewart coverage of the election but I wasn't as excited about it as everyone else so I had no problem going to sleep knowing I could see the results in the morning. After all, I'm not really fond of either candidate but after McCain picked Sarah Palin for VP (who I hate) I've been rooting for Obama. I was a little surprised he had such a large victory since all the polls showed them as being close in numbers.
Today CPT P said I have to take down my Halloween decorations in my exam room, but we compromised and he said that if I take down the spider web in my window I can keep the two little gravestones in my window sill.
Aaron called me at work today (God Bless DSN phones) and it was so good to hear his voice. Her warned me that he might be going out on another mission soon so I might not hear from him for a few days again.
