OK, inspired by randomly finding a journal by someone who goes to LAS (and hates Madame Marquis... oh, that made me laugh. And smile. And skip. And grin.), I decided to share a random Room 34 story, one that has remained a part of me. And inspired the title to my journal.
One dark night in study hall, my roommie Nat graciously gave me the rest of her extra butter microwave popcorn. Which I gladly ate. And then, in the near empty bag, were popcorn kernels in a pool of butter. Well, you just can't let all that yummy butter go to waste, now can you? So I sucked on a few kernels.
And I thought, wouldn't it be cool if I could spit them and hit a target?
So I tried hitting Natalie. She didn't like that too much. So I went to the other side of the room and tried target practice on the Andie Roomie. She didn't like that either.
Hm, maybe I could target practice on the tree.
So I went out on the balcony and did just that. I wasn't too good, my kernels just kinda dropped from my mouth to the ground. Oh well, I'd better just turn around and go back inside.
So I turned around. And there was Ms. Rozzi, who catches me at EVERYTHING. I need to think fast. Think, Liz, THINK!
"Um,", I begin, with a mouthful of popcorn kernels, "I know you're not going to believe me, but I was... looking for my shoes." I look over my shoulder. "Nope! Not there!"
Detention in five, four, three, two,...
Ms. Rozzi smiles. "OK!" And leaves the room.
I got away with it? Looking for my shoes on the balcony during study hall? She bought it?
Yep.
And ever since, "I'm looking for my shoes" has been the best excuse for any situation. Try it sometime.
