Why you eyeing my lemon drink: Reflections on The Happening
The Happening will go down as one of the most overlooked comedies of this decade. On nearly every level the movie is a complete disaster as a suspense/horror film, but when you look at it as a comedy it suddenly becomes a work of brilliance. There's no way that the dialog, acting and cinematography weren't meant as a complete joke. It's like a 50's Sci-Fi movie that has been violently forced into the 21st Century with Mark Wahlberg playing the archetypal role of "The Scientist" trying to deduce what is causing the madness. I really don't want to spoil all the great exchanges and scenes that take place, so see for yourself how grand it is.
