Better People

I woke up thinking about forgiveness today. I know quite a few people that could benefit from this. My thoughts in waking, though, were why. Why could or do people benefit from forgiveness? I know they do and will, but how can I justify this thought?

Mother Teresa, a woman I've always looked up to, said "We know that if we really want to love we must learn to forgive".

Forgiveness doesn't have to mean condoning the act. "It is not possible to truly be present and available to a new relationship until you heal the hurt and upsets of the past."

This quote is really interesting "Forgiveness is the release of all hope for a better past". - Alexa Young.  I think it really applies to me and how I feel toward the world sometimes.

"One pardons to the degree that one loves".  Think about that, one forgives to the extent that they are able to love. How profound. I think this right here is my why.  Why forgive? Because the humility, empathy, and wisdom it takes to do so leads to the change, growth and freedom needed to truly love. (Leo Buscaglia)

You know you have forgiven someone when he or she has harmless passage through your mind. - Rev. Karyl Huntley
