New place

Josh, Joey and I got the keys for our new place yesterday. Come visit us 2 doors down from Maria...apt 5. Mia, I'm posting on your computer. :) We have no TV or internet and wont have one til the 1st (in theory...but could be til the 6th) and one on the 2nd. Thats not too long, right??

So we moved a bunch of our stuff and Joey's stuff and then bought a ton of crap at Ikea. I'm sorry but that place rocks. Try the $1 vanilla frozen yogurt cones on the first floor by the cash registers...tasty. The only thing about Ikea is that, because it is so cheap, sometimes it is prefabbed sorta crappy. We bought this counter extender thing that is supposed to slide up along a track, like a folding leaf. Neither Josh nor I can get 3 out of the 4 screws in one of the first steps to screw in fully. The screws are supposed to hold hinges in place so this is rather important. It's as if the holes arent drilled deep enough or wide enough or something. Frustrating.

Anyway, Joey left for Napa for a few days after we got back from Ikea...his girlfriend's 19th birthday (Yes, Joey is 24...dont ask because we dont). Josh and I spent our first night in the place and made the unfortunate discovery that the neighbors right below us like to listen to loud music with lots of bass...past the building's quiet hours. We had been told by our neighbors in 6 that their friends, who used to live in our apt, complained of loud bass below them. Josh went down, introduced himself and asked them to turn in down a bit. I stayed upstairs and heard no perceptible lessening of said bass. Though their talking did get louder. Honestly, no one who talks loud enough to be heard in the apartment upstairs is using their "indoor voices". And as of some time prior to 9am this morning (the end of quiet hours), their "outdoor voices" were once again put to use inside. Josh called our landlady, Nancy, and asked her to speak with them. Nancy said she'd had a few complaints from previous tenants next to that apartment. Oh joy, says I, the insomniac/light sleeper.

Anyway, everyone should come say hi...but only as soon as we are unpacked and have internet, phone or TV. At least I put the Ikea entertainment center and the bathroom storage unit together. Thats something...but we have no chairs. Or table. It'll be a work in progress for a bit. Hope the downstairs neighbor thing doesnt become a huge problem...though we are on month to month. Oh well.
