You're welcome in advance! I loved the prompt. It was a challenge to go back to S2 thinking with the characters, but that also meant I got to rewatch a lot -- all very enjoyable. I hope you enjoy the story!

Like Anne said, this was most definitely savor-able. I adore your prose. It's dark and uncomfortable and complex and fascinating. I love the slow progression from anger and distrust to something indefinable and not yet understood. You've given me plenty of food for thought today.

(((Snoopy))), thank you. I've written a lot of S3 and S4 A/R, and I found it difficult to get my head around the characters as they were in S1/S2. Thanks for letting me bounce ideas off of you, and for enjoying the result!

I've spent some time trying to narrow down what I like best about this story--as a whole, it's gorgeous and emotionally deep and sheds an entirely new light on both of their suffering, in unique and different ways. And your extraneous characters--Saul, Billy, Cottle--are so fascinatingly fully developed and so intricately woven into the story, I can't imagine the fic without them, when they're usually used as accessories.

I think what strikes me even after several readings is how alive your writing is. I can feel it, touch it, see it, even taste it. I could feel Adama's pain; I could feel and smell the lush overgrowth of Kobol; I could feel every exaggerated sensation that Roslin was experiencing in her chamalla-infused state. The sex was perfect, but imperfect--it was perfectly human.

A few things that have stuck with me for days:

Everything on the ancient planet was overgrown; long, gnarled stems twisted through patches of bright green moss, yet did little to cushion the uneven, rocky ground underneath. Her skin was too ( ... )

((((Tea)))), thank you so much for all of your help on this story, from brainstorming to beta. I'm not good with time ptessure, and your help and encouragement were invaluable.

I love that you could really feel immersed in this, because it means that the story was believeable. And thank you so much for pointing out the parts you enjoyed -- I love that, made my day!! I got to write for some supporting characters that I really enjoy, and it meant the world that you liked my Billy. I loved writing for him :).

As always, beautiful and thought-provoking writing from you. I especially love the Bill/Saul and Bill/Cottle interactions- those really felt like something that was missed in the actual show. You have such an amazing grasp of the characters - it's almost as though this was on my screen.

(((Flamingo))) ... it's your New Years' fic ;D!!

It felt really fresh to go back to Kobol after writing so much from S4. tjonesy and icedteainthebag were a huge help brainstorming possible scenes and ideas; TJ in particular suggested that Cottle could really let loose on Bill, and I really enjoyed writing the scene. I love that you felt the scenes could be part of the show, and I love that you enjoyed. Happy New Year, you!

It IS my New Year's fic! Most excellent. :) Get cracking on Valentine's Day.

Intereting point (and well caught by TJ) that Cottle could "let loose" on Bill. I think one of the problems both Bill and Laura had is that there was virtually no one left who would knock them down a peg when necessary. Cottle's one of the few who can speak freely, and I like to think that he did.

Everything you write should be part of the show. There should be "S5 - the Lars season." :)
