hey y'all

Jan 29, 2006 19:58

well damn...kinda diffent down here than back home. Its janurary and like 70 degrees and sunny!

anyway...work has started now and we are slowly but surely getting more work. We are delivery and blocking up trailors for FEMA. The crew we are working with is very intersting (me, bobby, his dad, a cuban guy named pedro, and this crazy bi-polar guy, albert).

Pedro is so fuckin funny. hes like 42 and we'll be driving and he'll just start jamming to the music like crazy. He has a very different perspective on things because of his life (he escaped cuba, and has had a TON of differnt jobs). The albert guy is from around here (it explains his weirdness). He has 2 bikes, a nice car, a boat, but lives in a shithole...go figure lol.

Its a real change working down here, having to get up at 5.30 every morning, because i was used to sleeping in until like 2pm everyday. Im starting to learn how the real world works, and its doing me a whole lot of good....and the hours of physical labor cant hurt!

I've seen some crazy ass shit so far such as houses on top of cars, boats in the middle of fields, houses that are 3 streets from where they are supposed to be!

A lot of people think that hurricane katrina wasn't a big deal..hell it was only cat. 3.....
well its not how strong it was, but the amount of flooding and damage it caused. Most of the people that tried to ride it out were killed (they have numbers dead spray painted on a lot of houses). Its kinda surreal and puts a lot of stuff in perspective.

anyway i have to go eat dinner, but i will try to update regularly.

i miss all of you back home

peace
