TV

For a few years I've wanted to upgrade to a modern TV.  Our current unit is a CRT unit around 24 inches that CG bought about 12 years ago.  It leaves a lot to be desired watching DVDs.

With Christmas sales I started looking at Future Shop.  I dislike shopping as I feel intimidated by all of the choices.  Fortunately a helpful salesman and some prior research got up down to a 40 inch LED TV with 1080 and 120 Hz refresh.  I want a good picture so I want to go top of the line (well okay not 240 Hz as that is in much higher end TVs).  So I liked a Samsung for $800.  One of its features, SmartTV, will not work with my Apple Airport Extreme Router but I really don't need it as my PS3 will connect to the Net.

So today I took CG to Future Shop and we did some looking.  She liked my original choice.  I then asked to see what other options were there and we started to look at larger TVs.  CG saw another Samsung and she said, 'This looks like looking through a window it is so clear.'  She was right.  This one is a Samsung 46 inch for $1,400.  It is a 3D TV and glasses are an extra $90 each.

Beside it was a LG 47 inch that has passive 3D and it is $1300.  It takes regular 3D glasses and it ships with a set of four. The ones the theatre gives to you.  CG did not like the picture as much.

I'm leaning towards the LG.  It is a larger TV, the glasses are free (save hundreds of dollars there) and if L breaks a pair no big issue.

Still more to look at. Decisions, decisions, decisions.
