I don't know why, but I have been sneaking a lot of meat lately. Supposedly I don't like meat, but I've been making blt's for lunch and just now I snuck a few bites of Josh and Tulu's roast beef. (Josh and Tulu are our captive ravens who I have to feed everyday...I go through the dinner line and order the rarest chunk of whatever meat they have). I feel sick now, stupid meat. It's like addictive.
I've been helping the eider crew mist net eiders. We caught two this morning, first a female, and while we were processing her, her male flew into the net. I had to run over to get him out, and it was kind of scary because he was in the bottom shelf and his head was stuck underwater for a little while. One of his wings was pretty badly tangled in the net, but I managed to get him out and he was fine. Then there was a silly little sandpiper who flew in and wrapped the net around her wing really bad...but I got her out! I'm all proud of myself for remaining skilled at net extractions even though it's been nearly 2 years since I've done any serious mist netting. ^-^
And, um, still trying to figure out Hawaii stuff. I need to talk to Molly. But if she can't make it, it'll be me and Laura on Maui and The Big Island this August. :D
