Plot? Who needs it? This was just so charming and sweet and fun, and I love it.

I really love the ways things interlink in this AU, and the level of detail you give to characters both major and minor. In particular:

- Spina being all protective of his knitwear is apt, and hilarious. As is Anna being shocked at the sight of him without his hat.
- Anna! She's such a potentially fascinating character, it was a shame she doesn't really have any lines. I loved that you fleshed her out a little.
- I love Haldane just going around dispensing motivational speeches at the drop of a (knitted) hat, and that one was particularly touching. Dammit, Ack-Ack, I have no idea how one man can contain that much awesome.
- The idea of Eddie's family home being full of cats is now part of my personal canon too. I hope you don't mind - it just seems perfectly right.
- Snafu calling Eddie 'Gunny'. Touching, somehow.
- BROMANCE BETWEEN A MAN AND A CAT. It shouldn't be so awesome, but it absolutely is.

This totally made my night.

Sometimes the world just requires warm, fuzzy, plotless ficlets.

And thank you. I will not wave around my notebook of pages full of how things interlink, b/c at this point, I need a flowchart.

I am glad you enjoyed it and it brought a smile to your face!

One of my rants about "Bastogne" is that Anna has no lines. I want the history of Anna. I want her story.

Haldane, in my mind for the modern au, is a combo of Robin Williams' character in Dead Poets Soceity and what we see in the mini-series.

Please go ahead with the Jones family and their house of cats. I mean, it makes sense for any family who lives in the country.

-Ack! I meant to put in a note about having Eddie as a Gunny since battlefield commisions don't really exist in the modern military, so Gunny seemed the best equivalent rank for his experience/character in my mind.

BROMANCES BETWEEN A MAN AND A PET (ESPECIALLY A CAT) SHALL ALWAYS BE AWESOME.

Aww, yay.

There is a ton of Eddie/Andy coming to the 'verse. I just wanted to get more of a clear idea of the modern Marine Corps (since it's such a part of them and their story, even in this 'verse) before I did a whole story featured on those two. There are 2-3 fics with their relationship as the sole focus coming in the near future.

The posting of the fics will probably be backasswards, but the first should be "Silly Love Songs" which is a Kitty/Eddie BFF fic, along with going into the ending of Andy/Eddie's relationship first time around.

Thank you for sharing those posts with me, bb!

Is it sad that my first reaction was "Noooo, not the hat!" It's okay, Spina, I understand your pain! My cat is white, my clothes are dark and apparently comfortable because he is always sleeping on my laundry. You NEVER GET THAT HAIR OUT AGAIN, IT HAUNTS YOU FOR LIFE ( ... )

I'm lucky in that my cats are black and grey, but one of my dogs is pure white with hair that goes everywhere. I have to keep lint brushes at work because, without fail, by the time I get to work, my navy shirt is covered in white fur.

There is a way that Cajuns used the word "boo," kind of like how people in the south say "Bless your heart," where, even if it comes in a threat, it just kind of makes you go "awww."

I REALLY wish we had more about Anna. And Renee. But Anna most of all. It's been fun creating her history for this, but I really wish I knew more about her.

Gene and Babe are most def. the parents of the household. Eddie's just the uncle who comes to watch the kids while the parents are out.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thank you!

Pet stories are kind of like kid!fic where some days, you just need them. Not all the time. Every now and then.

I really wanted to hold off writing Eddie, Andy, and most of Team Sledge in this 'verse until I got my hands on memoirs from the OEF and OIF, to get the Marines take on Iraq and Afghanistan, and I really was struck by the fact that be in One Bullet Away or Joker One, the officers leading the platoons basically said the same things. And that's where Andy's monologue came form.

And thank you. I am quite fond of this sprawling 'verse. Even though it was SUPPOSED to start out as a Speirs/Lipton epic.
