Jenny Kissed Me
by James Henry Leigh Hunt
Jenny kissed me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have missed me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kissed me.
The reason I love this poem is that it reminds me that you need to stop looking at the big picture sometimes. Once in a while stop whining about what went wrong this week or this month or this year and remember that something good happened. It's so easy to overlook the small things that mean so much to you at the time they occurred. Two days ago I was walking around JC Penny with Laura and one of my favorite songs came on. We both started singing it under our breath as we continued to wander around the store. It was nothing really, but it made me smile just the same. Over three years ago a cute, sweet, amazing guy hugged me for no reason. He probably doesn't remember me, and odds are I won't be face to face with him again, but our brief meeting makes me happy every time I think of it. What would your "Jenny kissed me" moment be?
