Need a baby-sitter? Save time!

When I was a kid I loved, loved, LOVED the baby-sitters club. I had a whole bunch of the books, the game, and several of the videos. A little while ago I stumbled across a blog that made fun of the books and I really enjoyed reading those entries and reminising about the books. From there I found a few LJ communities and started to follow them, and from there, well, I decided to start collecting books again.

I hadn't touched any of my books in a long time. I knew they were in the attic, and my mom found them for me one day and dragged them down. I remembered some of the books that I had, but I had more than I thought. I remembered not having too many Super Specials (I only have 5, there are 15.) But I don't remember owning too many Mysteries. Well I own a decent amount of them! I even own an elusive Super Mystery that I didn't remember owning at all! I also owned one of the portrait books, Stacey, of course.

The books are broken down like this:

The regular series. There are 131 of these. The highest number book I have is 96 and I'm missing chunks of books inbetween, especially in the higher numbers. I stopped reading them as I got older. I remember going into the store one day and looking at the books and seeing that Claudia got sent back to 7th grade. I was like, "What?!" And then I remember going to look for the books in the bookstore a few years after that and there wasn't a book to be had. It was over.
The Super Specials As I said there are 15 of these.
The Mysteries There is something like 36 of these.
Super Mysteries Only about 5 of these I think.
Portrait Books There are portrait books for Stacey, Claudia, Dawn, Kristy and Mary Anne
Reader Request There are about 3 or 4 of these, I think, all about Logan and Shannon
Friends Forever After the regular series ended there was the Friends Forever books. It didn't last too long and there aren't too many of them. There are two specials: Everything Changes (the first book) and Graduation Day (the last book.) Graduation Day is very rare and quite expensive. I don't own any of these.
There are also some random other books, like the Guide to Babysitting, the Notebook, and the Chain Letter book, which I happen to own. There's also like a Secret Santa thing and some other stuff. I'm not really interested in collecting these.

But I'm interested in collecting the rest. I just won 2 Ebay auctions. One was for 74 books. I have some of them already, but what I already have I can trade for books I don't have. The other auction was only for 11 books but it was all higher number books (including #131, which is hard to get), none of which I own. I'm very excited to get these!

Besides Ebay I've been checking the Goodwill store for any books I might find there. So far I only found 3. I had them all but I bought them anyway to trade. I might start checking some garage sales and stuff.

Of course I've been reading the books over. Some of them are really bad in a boring sort of way. But I've been enjoying most of them, although maybe you could argue it's mostly from a nostalgic point of view.

I certainly have my favorite characters.

Stacey has always been my favorite. I think this is for several reasons. First, she's from New York. Second, she's blonde haired and blue eyed and I always liked characters that looked nothing like me. Then she's diabetic, which makes her interesting. Plus I like the fact that she was always described as cool and sophisticated. I always like the cool girls. Plus I like the name Stacey.
Claudia is my second favorite for many of the reasons I like Stacey. She's cool. She's interesting. I like her name. I hate her journal entries though. Between the spelling and the handwriting they hurt my eyes.
Mary Anne is my third favorite. She reminds me more of myself because she has brown hair, brown eyes and is shy.
Jessi is my fourth favorite. I like how she's a dancer.
Kristy comes in at number five. I either like Kristy books or am totally bored by them. I don't mind Kristy as a character but she's kind of dull to read about sometimes.
Mallory is number six. She can be really annoying and immature.
Dawn my least favorite by far. I do like some of the Dawn books but I just find her annoying, preachy and boring most of the time.

And then there are Logan and Shannon, neither of which I find too interesting on their own, especially Shannon.

I guess there are worse things to collect!
